TOP 5 Adventurous Things To Do In MAURITIUS!

Thank you guys for showering so much love on my previous Mauritius article where I covered top 10 things to do while you are visiting the Paradise Island. This tropical island is a dream destination for many. But Mauritius has a lot more to offer than just beautiful beaches and turquoise green waters. Few of you would think of so many options when it comes to seeking out adrenaline pumping adventure activities, but what if I told you that Mauritius covers adventure sports on both water, land and air too. These adventure activities in Mauritius are a blast and too good to be missed out on as it includes some of the World’s best watersports that can only be found exclusively on the island. It’s about time to beat the heat in style and the current winter season in Mauritius is just perfect for all types of travelers. Buckle up as I take you guys through the TOP 5 adventurous things to do in Mauritius for all my adrenaline junkies out there!!

  1. Flyn’Dive – This is your golden chance to fly like Iron Man and dive like a dolphin. You are strapped into the Flyn’Dive board (you wear them like shoes) along with a life vest and off you go floating into the sea. After a detailed safety briefing and a training session, you can start soaring in the air on your own. A powerful water pump creates a water jet that launches you in the air and gives you an uninterrupted view of the majestic Grand Baei area.
Just check our trainer looking like a rockstar on the jets.

Also, your landings can be as soft or as impactful as you want since you are in control. Unfortunately, I didn’t try this since my periods decided to start a bit early (& it brought along cramps and the usual discomfort :/ ) and also this activity was on the last day of our return. (I was on a major FOMO guysssss). But that being said I’m definitely trying it out the next time I’m in Mauritius.

  2. Seakarting Experience – This has got to be the best way to explore the South West Coast of Mauritius while enjoying an adrenaline-pumping ride in the ocean. You can drive the Seakart on your own or team up with a partner. As you speed your way through the Indian Ocean keep a lookout for dolphins, coral reefs and the water that keeps on changing colours from deep blue to turquoise green as you drive deeper into the ocean. In the 2 hours tour, you also get a guided tour of the beautifully thriving Mauritian Marine Life.
This was a once in a lifetime experience for sure as Seakarting is only available in Mauritius. Also, the Seakart is completely safe as it can’t be toppled, not even on the biggest waves. With the accelerator placed on the steering wheel, it can get a bit tricky but once you get the hang of it, this will totally be epic. It was so much fun chasing the sun and clouds hovering above as I breezed through the water.
  3. Casela World Of Adventures Lion Interaction + Roller Coaster Ride – Welcome to the land of adventure which also happens to be one of the most visited places in Mauritius. Casela World of Adventures is in the West Coast of Mauritius and you cover a scenic road on your way here that is flanked by sugarcane fields on either side. If you are a nature lover and if you want to experience wildlife responsibly, then this is your place to be. Casela boasts of its own waterfalls, natural animal enclosures, canyon and a forest. All the trainers that I spoke to refer to these animals as their babies as they have raised them since they were little. You can explore the forest on Segways, quad bikes or on safari buses. You can also participate in the “Walk With Lions” or the Lion interaction activity where you get to roam with the Lions in their natural habitat – the forest. It is really commendable how the park and their trainers/handlers respect these animals, their space and treat them so well. These big cats truly rule the forest and things here progress at their own pace. Also, please note – none of the animals are mistreated here as this is a natural reserve and they give utmost importance to animal rights and their protection. I enjoyed my interaction with the big cats so much, that I couldn’t stop smiling ear to ear.The Lion was so playful and I think he liked this leonine next to him. 😉  Make sure to get on the roller coaster ride too in the park where you control the speed through the brakes on either side of your seat, as you glance through the entire park and the surrounding mountains.
  4. Blue Safari Submarine Dive – Dive underwater without getting wet and explore the marine life in a submarine, yes you heard that right girl!!! This is a 2-hour submarine excursion that dives into the Indian Ocean 35 meters below sea level. Post a safety briefing we hopped onto a ferry that took us to the main submarine, before making a quick pit stop at the port for some stunning photos next to the turquoise green waters. What a surreal experience this was! This 10-seater submarine offers a window seat to every participant so that each people has a clear view of the ocean bed. You will also cross paths with old ship wreckage on the sea bed, The Star Hope which is a common feeding ground for different kinds of fishes. I came back with a certificate of “Submarine Diving”, super yay!!
    Traveler Tip –
Call shotgun on the seat behind the pilot as you will get some beautiful views through the pilot’s perspective of the ocean as you dive deeper with the submarine.
  5. Quad Biking + Zip Lining At La Vallee des Couleurs Nature Park – Your girl completed 2 hours of quad biking, braving through the rain which made it so much fun and difficult at the same time. But I am so glad I put on my daredevil hat to experience these exhilarating activities. It was such a happy high riding through the wooden paths, crossing waterfalls, climbing mountains, all while taking in these picturesque views. The best part is that a trained professional leads the way through the entire journey and you also need to pass the trial test first before you drive on the bumpy paths. I was the last one to pass the test by the way, but during the final drive, I drove like a pro!! Reminded me about how important it is to do everything in life at your own pace. They have so many fun and adventurous activities here but what topped my chart were the quad biking and zip lining experiences. This aerial adrenaline rush is an unforgettable experience that also gives you a bird’s eye view of the entire South Coast region of Mauritius from up there. I opted for the 1.5 kms zip lining and you can choose if you want to fly like a superwoman (like I did) or sit and experience it.

MAURITIUS has my heart for several reasons (crystal clear from my posts and stories), but I am so impressed with their thrilling adventure sports that are truly one of a kind in the world and they also cater to so many different types of travelers. It indeed is a Paradise Island with elements of exploration, fun and innovation, combined together to give a surreal experience to every person who visits this nation.
