Staycation At Le Sutra, Bandra

Salman and I love taking breaks every now and then. These breaks become even more important especially since we both have been traveling non-stop for work and now with our first baby on the way, what better reason to unwind than this. But for a quick weekend getaway or a staycation we didn’t want to travel too far (considering Mumbai traffic) and hence we wanted to pick a hotel which is close to our home and in Bandra itself. Since we both have dined multiple times at Out of The Blue Restaurant, we knew about Le Sutra Hotel which is right next to it, they, in fact, share the same building. Plus, extra points for the fact that this hotel is in the heart of Bandra!! So here you go guys, I’m mentioning below some of the highlights from our staycation at Le Sutra Hotel for you all. Hope this helps you plan your next stay with them.

  • Ideal Location – This boutique hotel is beautifully located right in the heart of Bandra, minutes away (walking distance) from Carter Road Promenade and is surrounded by some of the hippest cafes and bars in Mumbai. If you’re looking for a hotel in North of Mumbai, then Le Sutra will be an ideal artsy hotel option for you. If you’re coming from the airport, it will take you approximately 20-25 minutes.

  • Le Sutra Ideology – This hotel has a contemporary look and feel from the time you step into their lobby and this is the first-ever Indian Art Hotel. It has 16 rooms in total that are super spacious, with an ample amount of natural light coming in. Every room is designed based on a different theme that stems from Indian philosophy, art, myths and historic pride of our culture. The traditional Indian motifs, glass-topped coffee tables, sculptures, wall murals and the other works of art that you see here are all a creation of 150+ local art students.

  • Dining At Out Of The Blue – All our meals were at Out Of The Blue Restaurant which is on the ground floor and it serves European, Italian and Continental food. Both Salman and I are big fans of their special in-house pizzas, sizzlers, fondues and more!! Their risottos are super delish and a must-try too.

I remember this used to be my family’s favorite restaurant for any birthday dinners, especially their outdoor seating area.
  • Prakriti Room – We stayed at their “Prakriti Room” which is a room designed inspired by nature and it has lots of natural wood elements, with a calming white interior along with an eye-grabbing painting.

Every room here has a different design theme and the designs reflect the different “gunas” from Indian philosophy. Even the welcome goodies in our room were all natural and served in such an aesthetic manner.

  • Angdai Spa – This translates to a stretch after a good night’s sleep and that’s exactly what a god spa treatment does to you. The therapists are all trained to give you a professional massage from a variety of treatments that are available for you to choose from.

  • Karma Korner Book Store – Right outside the Out Of The Blue Restaurant, on the ground floor, is a special book store called the “Karma Korner”. If you are into spirituality, then you have hit gold here my friend as you’ll find so many books all at one place that will help you walk that spiritual journey enlightened.

If you think you are a beginner and are not sure which about book to pick, then there is the Karma Quest spirituality personality quiz “the Hingori Sutras” that you can take with them that will help you decide which spiritual book is the right one for you.

  • Best In-Room Dining – How can any staycation be complete without experiencing some in-room dining right?? We loved our chicken club sandwiches along with our steaming cup of masala chais which by the way came straight from the Out Of The Blue kitchen. Food is really scrumptious here and according to me, it’s so important that this can make it or break it for any hotel stay.

  • Breakfast Fit For A King – For brekkie too next morning we headed straight to Out Of The Blue restaurant in their ac seating area which had a huge spread of options from continental, Indian to fresh cute veggies and fruits.

You can also order some fresh custom made eggs of your choice amongst other things. We love the ambiance here and were pleased to see a healthy mix of business and leisure travelers.

I hope you guys enjoyed our Le Sutra staycation as much as we did. Here’s to slowing down once in a while in life, taking breaks and celebrating each other and ourselves. If you ever have stayed with them, I would love to hear your experience too.
